Several prominent conservatives came out yesterday to voice their opposition to charter schools.
Sen. Shadrack McGill, R-Woodville, and Rep. Kerry Rich, R-Albertville, both went on record saying that they were opposed to any legislation that would create charter schools in Alabama.
“The more I educate myself on charter schools, I decided not to go with the party,” McGill said. “I’m opposed to charter schools.”
Also, the Christian Coalition of Alabama announced yesterday they are opposed to charter schools.
Dr. Randy Brinson says he is concerned about left wing groups who would run charter schools pushing liberal views on students. “It only favors one particular group to try and get an advantage once they are in they can manipulate and draw down money and not be accountable” Brinson said.
